fabric stamping

I've recently discovered Versacraft ink pads and I can see a whole new obsession in the making. These ink pads means you can stamp all kinds of designs on fabric which can then be heat set using your iron.

pencil cases
I used them to personalise these pencil cases recently and I'm really quite tricked with the whole idea.

Recently I was lucky enough to win tickets to the Hobbycrafts show at the SECC from the Glasgow Craft Mafia blog. Myself and my friend and her daughter spent a whole day wondering around a zillion stalls selling mostly paper crafting materials. To be honest I was a bit lost as to what to do with everything so I didn't buy that much. There was one fabric stall which I might have visited ;) plus quite a few stalls full of ribbons and buttons but it was mostly paper crafting stuff.

love these stamps

My budget wasn't exactly huge (understatement of the year) so with my last quid I bough a teeny tiny alphabet stamp set. I didn't have anything in particular in mind other than it was quite cute and it was cheap as chips. However now that I've used it I can see lots of fabric stamping in my future. One day I'd love to carve my own or revisit cutting stencils that were so much fun for Jamie's dotty outfit. Also I could use my Sizzix Big Shot to cut out freezer paper stencils too. Hmmmm there's lots of possibilities with this.

I'll need to fill you in on the Big Shot as I didn't get round to blogging it back in September when I got it. Anyway that's for another day and I better get this posted before the internet packs in again. You wouldn't believe the hassle we've had the last week with our broadband, it's been driving me nuts.

Bye for now

Two things - 1) what did you stamp on the zip pouches? & 2) I definitely want to hear the low down on the big shot! Been contemplating that for a while but it is a bit expense.... I have also recently discovered stamping on fabric and I can see it could be addictive (yet another crafty thing that is addictive...).

Purses are lovely be the way x

(2nd time I've tried to comment - disappeared 1st time!)

Those zippy purses are lovely, I'm really drawn to the dino one, so bright and funky! What a great idea putting the names on the zippers!

I used my stamps (from my cardmaking/scrapbooking days) on fabric and loved the results, keep meaning to find the special ink though as I just used ordinary stuff (too impatient to wait and buy the proper stuff!). You can see what I made here - http://www.sewrayme.co.uk/2011/04/fabric-bathroom-tidies-no-2-3.html

Did you win the Big Shot??

Ps. How do you get such clear, bright photos?

Huh, I've been using that ink for years, but never thought of using it on anything but paper - doh!

After my giveaway didn't turn up from Word up Nerd up - I'd planned lots to do with the ink and stamps........ I got some Versacraft pads from Blade Rubber Stamps last week. They were the cheapest with the colours in stock. Also got a couple of the Fabrico pens too for coloring in. I'll blog about it soon.....ish!
Love the zippy pouches too.

Hey nikki, loving the stamping! Do u have to a special ink pad to use with fabric? Is the fabric then washable? Your wee cases are lovely, especially the sherbit pips one.xx
