shot cotton love

oakshott sunrise

I mentioned in my last post that I'd had a fabric giveaway win and seeing how it's a grim and grey day here it seemed the perfect time to brighten things up. I was lucky enough to win a set of 24 (that's right 24) fat eighths of Oakshott Cottons from Judith at Needles and Lemons. I'm sure you follow Judith already but if not go and take a peek at her fab bags and quilts plus a very enviable fabric stash. This set is called Sunrise and it's completely gorgeous. The colours are stunning and so neatly folded and stacked it seems a shame to use them. However I have decided to use some for a quilt I'm planning on making for my eldest son along with some stashed organic cottons from Raystitch.

Shot cottons are now a real favourite of mine as they act like solids but have more texture and depth to them. I recently used some gorgeous Kaffee Fasett Shot Cotton in the Ginger colourway for the backing of a cushion cover. I did add some G700 woven interfacing to give it more it some more durability since it was being used for a cushion. It's a really gorgeous nice rusty orange colour.

So what's your favourite solid fabric at the moment? Kona Cottons are always great and I've used Moda solids too which add even more colour options. Also Klona cottons are a great choice too especially when making bags as they have a bit more body to them than others.

I hope you've all had a great weekend, I'm off to see if I can squeeze in a little sewing before collecting Jamie from nursery.

Bye for now
