look out here comes the end of term!

Well today is the end of the school term and the start of seven weeks of holidays. Roll on late nights and late mornings and much scratching of heads as to how to amuse three children aged 14, 11 and 4. We have no plans this summer due to various circumstances that I won't bleat on about here.  Also at the moment I don't have the car and practically no money so I'll have to be more inventive than normal.

The eldest will no doubt amuse himself as the thought of accompanying his mum anywhere would be quite unbearable for him.  The doorbell will ring any number of times for my daughter to go out and play I'm sure so it's activities for a four year old I'll be looking for most. I remember Susan at Canadian Abroad posting about making paper water bombs and home made volcanoes so they're on my list, definitely.

I'm sure the holidays will have an impact on my sewing time but I'm still going to try and squeeze in as much as I can without neglecting the kids of course!

This year we made a fabric gift bag and our now standard teacher's gift, peppermint creams. If you think these ones look pink you should have seen the first batch, wow they were bright and were more like peppermint sludge really. This is what happens when you leave an 11 year old in charge of food colouring. Anyway I hope her teacher likes her gift as Kirstin's really enjoyed this year at school.

So what have you planned for the holidays?

Bye for now

Hope you have fun with the water bombs! Can't go wrong with wet on a hot day. Love the grey with the red for the teacher's gifts. Love it so much I think I will be copying it. Thanks for the inspiration!

oh that's really nice of you, thank you Susan. The grey is actually Kona Stone (I think the fact that I had my camera set on 'vivid' has affected the colour shown quite a lot)  which looks are really boring on the colour chart but I've used it loads as it's a great neutral. looking forward to seeing your teacher gift.

That's a cracking gift!!! And you think yourself lucky, over here in the Shire (Clackmannanshire, that is) we have EIGHT weeks starting today. Totally ridiculous...

thanks Lynz :) Oh boy 8 weeks what a thought. We get 8 every 4 years or something weird like that. When we lived in Aberdeenshire we got 6 weeks in summer and 2 at October, I still think that was much better, moan, whinge, and whine :)
