After much agonising and saving I've finally taken the plunge and bought an overlocker. I've bought it from ebay so please keep your fingers crossed it's ok but I really couldn't wait the huge amount of time it would have taken to save up enough for a new one.
Anyway it's a Frister and Rossman Epochlock and I can't wait to get going with it. I'm very excited about the possibilities that an overlocker brings but also a bit apprehensive about the learning curve involved in mastering the machine. I don't like the learning curves I want to be able to sit down and make stuff straight away... impatient I know :)
Just had a thought if you're not sure what an overlocker is, this is how I explained it to my friend when she asked,
It's a sewing machine that's designed especially for sewing knit fabric ie t-shirts fabric. It seams, trims the fabric and finishes the seam all in one go. if you look at the inside seams on your t-shirts they've been sewn on an overlocker. Also known as a serger in the States.

I'll just have to make myself use it as soon as it arrives so I don't get intimidated by it ;)
I borrowed one from my mom a few months ago & still haven't manged to use it - I'm too scared! I hope you get along well with yours!
They are quite different from a sewing machine and although I have used it a wee bit I'm still a bit scared of it. Definitely worth having a go though especially if you love knit fabric like I do.
